The rituals of writing

Some great food for thought here…

This week I’ve been thinking a lot about the unique habits we each have when it comes to our writing. From grabbing a cup of coffee before you get started to checking your emails, we all have those little things we do each time before we sit down and hit the keyboard.

The same goes with the time of day when we write. I have class mates that get up at 5.30am and do an hour of writing before they go to work or vice versa at night, when the house is at its most quiet.

I have an 8 month old baby, so I no longer have a fixed time each day when I write. I basically just do it whenever I can, which usually means when she is sleeping. How long she sleeps for depends on the day, so I am never really guaranteed that I am going…
